Camper Portal: Camp Goodtimes 2023

If, after reviewing this page, you have a question/concern reach out to the camp director, Tanya “Cooper” Krohn at tanya@thegoodtimesproject.org. To contact during camp, use email or text urgent/time-sensitive messages to Tanya’s cell phone at 206.255.3800.

By accepting a spot at camp, you’ve confirmed that the camper will be present for the duration of the camp week, they will have received their primary COVID vaccination series a minimum of 14 days before their camp session starts, your family will adhere to requested pre-camp COVID protocols (see below), and your family will utilize their assigned camper check-in time (see below for information).

setting expectations

Camp will look and feel very similar to pre-pandemic camp, but we also are incorporating a handful of changes originally implemented due to COVID as it turns out they work real good.

  • Check-in & gauntlet: outlined below (see Camper Check-In & Pickup section)

  • Check out: outlined below

  • Dance: Friday night’s dance will happen outdoors

  • Meals: breakfast and dinners will be eaten inside the Dining Hall, lunches will be eaten outdoors picnic style

  • COVID protocols: see COVID protocols section below

Get campers prepped to have the best camp experience possible and make it easy on yourself by preparing early:

update camper health profiles (as needed)

If things, such as medications/doses or health conditions have changed or a camper has received their COVID vaccine shots since initially completing their online Health Profile, please update their profile prior to camp so that camp staff/nurses have the most current knowledge of every camper.

camper check-in & pickup

assigned check-in times:

  • Each family will be assigned a check-in time to avoid overcrowding and long wait times. This may mean having extra time of Vashon Island between when your ferry docks and you can arrive at camp (so explore) or that you need to take a specific ferry (ferry schedules to Vashon).

  • Assigned check-in times run between ~2:00-3:45 p.m. dependent on the camp session.

once at camp:

  • Park in the main parking lot and head to the Welcome/Registration table to check-in and get your camper’s check-in card and further instructions.

  • Head to the Health Screening tent to be cleared to attend camp. Also, drop off the rapid COVID test we’re requesting each camper bring in case they need to be tested during camp.

  • Visit the MedShed/Nurse station to check in with each camper’s nurse. Bring all medications (in their original bottles; no pill packs please) and supplies necessary for your camper’s care.

  • Each camper will get their photo taken.

  • There will be a station to drop off camper mail and packages which we will deliver during the camp week (please bring versus sending in the mail).

  • Camper’s belongings will be dropped off in an area marked with their cabin number. Camp Goodtimes staff will move belongings to camper’s assigned cabins.

    • Please, label everything with your camper’s name and try to keep things contained in bags, including pillows and sleeping bags.

  • Final farewell to campers before parents/guardians head home; campers will be welcomed to camp via our welcome gauntlet (new location by the playground) and will meet their counselors. Parents/guardians will not be accompanying campers to their cabins.

Camper pickup:

  • Campers and staff will be participating in a closing ceremony and campers can be picked up afterwards.

  • The camper pick-up window will be from 11:00-noon. All campers must be picked up by noon.

    • Any early departure requests must be cleared with the camp director ahead of camp.

  • Parents/guardians must show their picture ID (persons must be one of the authorized adults listed on that camper’s pick-up form in their online Health Profile), locate their child(ren)’s belongings (sorted by cabin number), collect medications/supplies from the nurses, and then locate their child(ren).

covid protocols & guidelines

It’s important that all of us know and adhere to the following. We cannot stop COVID but we can employ layered protocols to help deter it from entering and spreading during camp. *The following are subject to change if circumstances and mandates change.

vaccinations:

  • All campers and staff are required to have had their primary COVID vaccination series. [This requirement will not change.]

  • Boosters are highly recommended but not required.

COVID testing:

We ask that all campers do an at-home rapid COVID test prior to coming to camp. It is our best defense against preventing COVID.

pre-camp:

  • Campers can help mitigate potential exposure leading up to camp by refraining from unnecessary gatherings or travel.

  • In the 10 days leading up to camp, if a camper is symptomatic, has tested positive for COVID, or been exposed to a COVID positive person and had close contact (within 6 feet of an infected person for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period), please alert the camp director immediately.

  • Alaska campers, or any other campers arriving by plane, should mask in the airport/on the plane.

during camp:

  • All campers and staff consent to a rapid COVID test during camp if they become symptomatic or were exposed to a COVID-positive person.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available across camp including at meals.

  • Anyone with symptoms needs to alert a nurse ASAP for the safety and health of everyone. Let’s not make this shameful but instead a pact to protect our camp family.

  • It is up to the camp nurses and provider whether any symptom or ailment is cause to send a camper (or staffer) home, even if they test negative for COVID.

  • If a camper or cabin counselor tests positive for COVID during camp, that individual will be sent home immediately. The remainder of the cabin will stay (unless a parent asks to pick up their child) and will be monitored for symptoms. Any non-cabin staff that tests positive will be sent home immediately.

visitors:

  • We will be inviting select visitors and vendors to camp to enhance the camper experience (ex. Jet City Improv, carnival vendor, etc.). As a precaution, we will ask them to be masked when indoors (but will no longer require them to mask outdoors).

covid cases:

  • We do not want any campers or staffers to get COVID during camp, but we are approaching this with a realistic lens. We ask that everyone take all the big and small steps they can to help keep camp COVID-free.
